US M1 helmet, manufactured by Schluter in the late 1943 period. Stainless steel band, hinged trigger guards. Flat brass buckle. Some shades of green paint. Large mesh netting.
The Firestone-made liner, numbered 48, was initially painted red for firefighting units and then repainted in olive drab. Marking on the front of the helmet. Broken chin strap, cracked leather.
